Job Overview

As the Chief Operations Officer (COO), you will provide strategic leadership to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality programs, member services, and operational excellence. Reporting to the CEO, you will oversee branch operations, ensuring alignment with the YMCA’s mission and goals, while fostering an inclusive and positive culture for staff and members alike.  The COO builds and sustains community partnerships, supports advisory boards, and advocates for the YMCA’s mission to maximize its impact in the community.  The COO has direct oversight of 4 branches and a total operating budget of $10 million.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Excellence and Performance Management: Support branch and program leadership in creating and managing development budgets and ensuring financial health.  Direct and evaluate day-to-day operations across all 4 YMCA branches, ensuring high standards in programming, member satisfaction, and safety.
  • Staff Management: Supervise, mentor, and develop branch leadership teams, fostering an inclusive workplace allowing for professional growth and accountability.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership to develop and implement operational strategies that drive membership growth and community impact.
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee budgets, monitor financial performance, and identify opportunities for operational efficiency.
  • Community Engagement: Serve as a key ambassador for the YMCA, fostering relationships with members, donors, and community stakeholders.  Play an active role in volunteer recruitment and board development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of successful YMCA executive experience that includes extensive management and supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to lead operational teams and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with peers, board members, and the community at large.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.
  • Passion for the YMCA’s mission and commitment to equity and inclusion.

This is a FT, exempt salaried position with a salary range of $135,000-$145,000.
